HorseLift data privacy policy

Data privacy and data security are at the highest priority for HorseLift. We therefore attach great importance to the protection of personal data in all business processes. In order to provide our services, we collect and use your data within the statutory regulations as describes below. Through the www.horselift.com website and related mobile applications, HorseLift provides you with access to varied user-generated and other content. This Privacy Policy sets forth our policies with respect to personally identifiable data (“Personal Data”) when using our services.

  1. Collection and use of Personal Data

    When you interact with us, we may collect Personal Data from you, as further described below: HorseLift only stores Personal Data if it is required. HorseLift position regarding Personal Data is based on the principle of data economy and data minimization.

    (1) Registration

    To enable access to HorseLift Services, the following Personal Data is recorded regarding your registration:

    • E-mail address (required)

    • Password (required)

    • Name (voluntary)

    • Personal information such as gender, age, weight, height (voluntary)

    • Horse personal information such as name, weight, height, wearable, breed, date-of-birth, gender (voluntary)

    (2) Tracking Our services include various location-based features, such as mapping outdoor activities. To provide these location-based features, HorseLift or its service provider may collect, use and share precise location data, including the real-time geographic location of your mobile device.

    The following Personal Data can be saved through the tracking process or when you use our services.

    (a) Basic data user data

    • location data

    • route data

    • horse data

    • users sharing horse functionalities

    • Calendar appointments

    • Photos stored on the app

    • Notes taken using the functionalities

    (b) Additional Personal Data

    • phone configuration (application)

    • phone entities

    • sound detection

    • noise levels, alarms

    • fitness data

    (3) Data location

    Personal Data as email address, pseudonym etc. are stored on servers in Germany.

    In case that other Personal Data than the Personal Data described above shall be collected you will be asked before we begin to collect this kind of Personal Data.  

  2. Deletion of your Personal Data / disabling position tracking

    You can delete your profile of HorseLift services at any time. This leads to a deletion of your user’s profile. In addition, all Personal Data connected to the profile is securely deleted, with the exception of Personal Data we are obliged to store for a longer time because of legal requirements. You can delete your profile within HorseLift Services under “settings” or you can send an e-mail to info@horselift.com.

    In case you ask us to delete your Personal Data, we might be unable to provide our service. If so, we are free from every obligation to provide our service any longer to you. This also relates to position tracking. In case you disable the tracking during the installation process some location based HorseLift features will not be available. We will then be free from every obligation to provide these services any longer to you.  

  3. Data Security

    We take various, reasonable steps to protect your data from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction.

    You can yourself contribute to protecting your data by changing your password regularly. Protect the password from access by unauthorized third parties, who otherwise can run up your profile.

    We restrict access to Personal Data to our employees, contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve our services.

    HorseLift collects also Transportation Data, which are some kind of Personal Data from you or your horse to provide you the service as described above. Because of the sensitivity of Personal Data, we will take every necessary step to protect this kind of sensitive Personal Data and get your consent to collect this kind of Personal Data, before we begin to provide the service.  

  4. Use of cookies

    In providing our services, we may use cookies. A cookie is a piece of information that the computer or computers that host our services give to your browser when you access our services. Our cookies help provide additional functionality and help us analyze usage of our services more accurately. For instance, our services may set a cookie on your browser that keeps you from needing to remember and then enter a password more than once during a visit to the site. On most web browsers, you will find a “help” section on the toolbar. Please refer to this section for information on how to receive notification when you are receiving a new cookie and how to turn cookies off. We recommend that you leave cookies turned on because they allow you to take advantage of some of the services’ features.

  5. Google Analytics

    This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.

    In case IP-anonymization is activated on this website, your IP address will be truncated within the area of Member States of the European Union or other parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases the whole IP address will be first transferred to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. The IP-anonymization is active on this website.

    Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing them other services relating to website activity and internet usage.

    The IP-address that your Browser conveys within the scope of Google Analytics, will not be associated with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.     We process Personal Data only for the purposes for which it was collected and in accordance with this policy or any applicable service-specific privacy notice. We review our data collection, storage and processing practices to ensure that we only collect, store and process the personal data needed to provide or improve our Services. We take reasonable steps to ensure that the Personal Data we process is accurate, complete, and current, but we depend on our users to update or correct their personal data whenever necessary.

  7. Changes to our privacy policy

    The services we offer may change from time to time. As a result, at times it may be necessary for us to make changes to this privacy policy. Accordingly, we reserve the right to update or modify this privacy policy at any time and from time to time without prior notice. Please review this policy periodically, and especially before you provide any personal data.

  8. Access to Information and obtaining information pursuant to § 34 Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG)

    We strive to keep your Personal Data accurately recorded. We provide you with access to update your profile and revise Personal Data previously submitted to us at any time. You may request, free of charge, information on the scope, origin and recipient(s) of the stored Personal Data as well as the purpose of storage.   9. Transfer to third parties

    No Personal Data shall be transferred to third parties beyond what is described in this document, unless you have given your express consent or we are obliged to do so by law. Wherever we collect Personal Data we make an effort to provide a link to this privacy policy. By voluntarily providing us with Personal Data, you are consenting to our use of it in accordance with this privacy policy. If you provide Personal Data through our services, you acknowledge and agree that such personal data may be transferred from your current location to our servers. However, we will cease using your Personal Data once you cancel or terminate your registration for the Services.

  10. Newsletter and regular status e-mail

    Only in the event that you expressly sign up for the HorseLift newsletter, you will receive general information and/or information tailored to your personal interests. You will also receive instructions about the use of the HorseLift App as well as the first registration. You may unsubscribe from the HorseLift newsletter at any time by sending an appropriate e-mail.
